Your inner strength is your outer foundation

To grow personally or spiritually does not mean by the spirit (or inner self) alone. It means both a person’s outer and inner life as well as the way he or she affects other people. The outer life is a manifestation of the growth that takes place on the inside.

When a person grows spiritually on the inside, he or she becomes more self-confident, kinder, more positive, and more generous in their desire to help others. This outer manifestation then attracts back blessings or good things in their life.
To add peace and blessings to your life, here are a few steps you can take on your spiritual growth journey:
Step 1: Change Your Attitude
If you have the tendency to be negative, to focus on what you don’t have (rather than being grateful for what you do have), to look out for number one (i.e. you!), or to be selfish, then you are not allowing good things to come into your life.
Take a few minutes out of every day to engage in the act of meditating or praying and thinking about what is good in your life. People call this having an ‘attitude of gratitude.’ Some find it helpful to keep a journal of all of the things in a day to be thankful for.
Step 2: Develop a Sense of Personal Introspection
This is a time of examining what you feel and think. Some people refer to this as self-examination. The purpose of this exercise is to focus on your thoughts and actions and see where changes need to be made.
For some, this step can be emotionally painful if there are situations in the past that have wounded them and found it necessary to bury these emotions deep inside themselves. Dragging around emotional baggage only wearies you. Deal with whatever has slowed you down personally and spiritually, release it and walk in freedom.
Step 3: Stop Running from Hard Situations
Whatever is in your life right now that’s causing you to feel a disconnect spiritually, deal with it. It won’t get better until you do. This might mean letting yourself deal with emotions (like grief or anger) that you’ve been pushing down for a while. Holding onto negative emotions can block your inner calm and stop you from achieving mental peace. The energy and the power are within reach if you want it.
Step 4: Personal Growth is a Step of Maturity
Develop the happiness habit, by always looking at the bright side of life and endeavoring to be happy. Happiness comes from within. Do not let your outer circumstances decide your happiness for you.

It’s getting healing for your spirit – it’s bringing together again all of the pieces of you that were lost. It doesn’t matter whether they were taken by a difficult childhood, a heartbreaking relationship or stress overload. You can be whole again. It is within your reach.

“Spirituality is not adopting more beliefs and assumptions but uncovering the best in you.”
